The defect

The outer cable sheath may have slipped through the end fitting causing the parking brake to become difficult to operate.

The hazard

The parking brake may become difficult to operate or fail which may result in the vehicle being unable to be secured correctly. This increases the risk of accident and injury to occupants of the vehicle and other road users/vehicles.

The remedy
