The defect

Over time the vacuum pump may fail completely due to a lack of lubrication. As a result, the power brake booster unit is not supplied with sufficient vacuum force, which reduces the effectiveness of the brake assistance function.

Reduced braking effectiveness poses a hazard to the driver and other road users.

The remedy
