The defect

Failure during the welding process has potentially reduced the welding strength of the filler pipe. With continued use the subject welding portion could detach.

The hazard

If the defect occurs, this may result in fuel leakage and poses a potential fire hazard.

The remedy

As a precaution prior to rectification, avoid filling the tank to the limit where possible. Rectification procedure will include an inspection of the fuel tank barcode, and if it’s one of the 21 nominated codes listed the fuel tank will be replaced with a new one.
