The defect

The engine auto tensioner flange may crack under high load driving conditions, which may cause the drive-belt to fall off.

The hazard

If the drive belt falls off, the engine warning light will illuminate, a loss of power steering assistance will occur, the battery will discharge and the engine may overheat and stall. This could increase the risk of an accident and injury to a vehicle occupant or other road users. In the event of a serious accident this may result in death.

The remedy
