The defect
In the rear oxygen sensor electrical short-to-ground or short-to-battery, the sensor fails, but a Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) or Engine Light warning does not illuminate.

The hazard
The driver may not be aware that there has been a malfunction with the exhaust system, which may be a regulation non-compliance.
The remedy
Owners of vehicles within the affected range will be advised to contact their Nissan Dealer to have the electronic control module reprogrammed with updated diagnosis logic. The rectification will be at no cost to owners.
