The defect

Due to a software error, the electric power steering may become unavailable sporadically.If this occurs, greater force will then be required to turn the steering wheel. Power steering will be fully available again after switching the ignition off and on again.

A potential for increased steering efforts exists which may result in reduced steering control. This may pose an increased risk of accident or injury to vehicle occupants or other road users.

The remedy
