The defect

Some brake booster pumps may be manufactured improperly, and may cause the brake assist function to stop operating while driving.

The hazard

If the brake booster pump stops operating, multiple warning lights and messages will illuminate, and/or audible chimes may sound. Braking assist could be lost completely after several brake pedal applications, causing an increase in the vehicles stopping distance, increasing the risk of an accident.

The remedy

Toyota Dealerships will contact owners of affected vehicles to advise consumers to arrange a time for the vehicle to be repaired at their preferred Toyota Dealer, free of charge.Consumers who require more information can contact their preferred Toyota Dealer or contact the Toyota Recall Assist Helpline on 1800 987 366 (Monday to Friday, 8am - 6pm AEST).
