The defect

Subsequent heating in the LED module for the sunroof background lighting may result in a short circuit due to humidity ingress into the LED module.

The hazard

Consequently, this may result in failure of the background lighting and subsequent heating can cause scorching damage/burning smell. Under unfavourable conditions a vehicle fire may occur.

The remedy

Volkswagen Group Australia Pty Ltd is contacting all known owners of affected vehicles.
