The defect

During routine investigations, Volvo have identified early wear on the auxiliary belt tensioner in some vehicles.

The hazard

If the deviation occurs there may be a loud noise and in the worst case scenario, it may lead to a loss of drive resulting in immobility of the vehicle and sudden loss of power steering assistance. This may pose a hazard to the driver and other road users.

The remedy

A letter is being sent to affected owners.Please contact your local Volvo dealership to arrange for an inspection and replacement of the auxiliary belt tensioner, if necessary.
