The defect

Under certain conditions in cold climates, the tailgate lifting arms may freeze.

The hazard

If the defect occurs, it may lead to an unusual noise, loss of function, or complete separation of the tailgate lifting arms, which could result in the internal spring detaching and being propelled in a rearward direction with significant force, which may cause personal injury.

The remedy
