The defect

The stator may fail during high engine temperature conditions.

The hazard

If this occurs, the generation of electrical energy is decreased allowing the battery to discharge. As a result the speedometer may not function and in the worst case the engine may stall and not restart, posing an accident hazard to the rider and other road users.

The remedy

Consumers should take the motorcycle to their nearest Yamaha dealer for inspection and repairs.
