The defect

Wheels with an incorrect lug nut taper angle were installed on the trailers.This may cause the lug nuts to loosen or cracks to develop causing a loss of air pressure in the affected tyre.

The hazard

If the wheel lug nut loosens or the tyre deflates while the trailer is being towed, there is a risk of wheel loss, increasing the risk of an accident and serious injury or death to the vehicle occupants and other road users.

The remedy
