The defect
The fuel pump module may not have been manufactured properly and may bind internally, restricting or stopping fuel to the engine.

The hazard
If fuel flow is restricted or stopped, the engine may stall during driving and the vehicle may not restart, increasing the risk of an accident and injury or death to vehicle occupants or other road users.
