The defect

Some of the brackets used to attach the two gas struts to the rear door hatch may not have been made to specification. At high temperature the increase in gas pressure may cause brackets to bend resulting in the struts detaching from the brackets.

The remedy

Contact your Nissan Dealer to arrange for the rear door strut brackets replacement. This will be carried out at no charge to the owner.
