The defect

The MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) will fail to illuminate when an automatic transmission OBD related malfunction occurs. However, the D indicator will flash if Automatic Transmission OBD related malfunctions.

Equipment malfunction.

The remedy

Owners of the affected vehicles will be contacted by mail in accordance with the FCAI Code of Practice to have vehiclesECM/PCM reprogrammed.
