The defect

Frequent operation of the intermittent wiper circuit may cause the relay contact points to separate from the contact arm, resulting in an electrical short circuit and the wipers being inoperative.

The hazard

In the worst case scenario, there is a possibility of smoke emission from the front windscreen wiper switch assembly.

The remedy

Owners are advised not to use the intermittent wiper function until the recall action is complete. All vehicles affected by the recall will have the front wiper switch replaced with an improved one.
