The defect

The Simard steering double knuckle arm on certain Sterling 8X4 front axles may not have been manufactured to the correct material specification and could fracture under normal loads.

The hazard

The operator may loose steering control over the vehicle.

The remedy

Letters will be sent to affected owners.Owners are advised to contact their authorised Mecedes-Benz dealership to have the steering arm inspected and, if necessary, replaced free of charge.
