The defect

Should an error with certain interfacing systems be detected, the cruise control system will be disabled and an error message displayed to the driver on the instrument cluster. Should one of these error states occur whilst the cruise control is engaged, it is not possible to cancel cruise control using the cruise control cancel button, brake pedal operation or change of gear.

The hazard

Vehicle speed cannot be reduced through the activation of the cruise control speed adjustment wheel. Turning the ignition off will cancel the cruise control function.

The remedy

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by letter.Owners are advised to contact their authorised Jaguar dealership for an update to the engine management controller software.
