The defect

The driver's side power window switch contains a switch unit that has been manufactured with an inappropriate design. Therefore, it is possible for automotive cleaning products containing silicones to enter into the switch unit.

The hazard

Repeated use and contamination by silicones may interfere with the switch operation and cause the switch unit to overheat. This may cause smoke and in the worst case, may ignite.

The remedy

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by letter.Owners are advised to contact their authorised dealership for inspection and replacement of the driver's-side power window switch.
