The defect

The shift cam segment stopper on the shift lever was produced out of specification. After continued operation it may develop cracking from fatigue in the corner radius of the stopper due to concentrated stress.

The hazard

If the defect occurs, the stopper may break and it is possible the transmission will not shift properly. This poses an accident hazard to the rider and other road users.

The remedy

Consumers should contact an authorised Yamaha Dealer to arrange for inspection and repairs.
