Verify before you act. Recall details and remedies can change. Our database is updated regularly but may not reflect the most recent revisions. Always confirm with vehiclerecalls.gov.au or your vehicle manufacturer before acting on the information below. Read our full disclaimer.

The defect

The vehicle brake switches may malfunction. This can be identified by the illumination of a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL), an audible chime, and the brake lights will be illuminated.

The hazard

A malfunctioning brake switch could allow the vehicle to be shifted out of PARK without the brake pedal being depressed, and could cause the rear brake lamps to be continuously illuminated. If the vehicle is shifted out of PARK when the brake pedal is not depressed (and the ignition is in the RUN mode) and/or the rear brakes are continuously illuminated it may increase the risk of a crash.

The remedy

FCA Australia will notify owners of affected vehicles and request them to schedule a service booking with their nearest Jeep dealer for a free of charge remedy.
