The defect

Due to a manufacturing issue, the Airbag Control Unit may not deploy the front airbags in the event of a crash.

The hazard

In the event of an accident an airbag not deploying as intended could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.

The remedy

Owners can contact their local Kia dealership to schedule an appointment to have the Airbag Control Unit software updated free of charge.
