The defect
Due to a manufacturing defect, the front passenger and driver seat belt service parts used as replacements on certain vehicles may not operate as intended and could extend further than intended after locking.

The hazard
In the event of an accident, a seat belt not operating as intended could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupant.
The remedy
Toyota will contact affected owners in writing. Owners of affected vehicles can make an appointment at their preferred Toyota dealer who will inspect and if necessary, replace the seat belt assembly, free of charge.
