The defect
Due to a manufacturing defect, the park pawl system that locks the transmission when the shift lever is in park may not operate as intended. This could result in the vehicle moving or rolling away whilst engaged in park position.

The hazard
If the vehicle moves from its parked position while unattended, it may increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.
The remedy
Owners of affected vehicles can contact their most convenient Mercedes-Benz dealership to have the work carried out as soon as possible, free of charge.
