The defect
Due to a manufacturing defect, one or both the tailgate strikers may have been misaligned during assembly. This may result in an unintended tailgate opening while the vehicle is in motion or stationary.

The hazard
If the tailgate opens while the vehicle is in motion, unsecured cargo may fall onto the road and into traffic. This increases the risk of an accident causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.
The remedy
Owners of affected vehicles can contact their nearest authorised RAM dealer to inspect the tailgate and rectification, free of charge.
