The defect

Due to a manufacturing issue, the seat backrest locking mechanisms in the third row may not meet specifications and may fail. In the event of an accident or hard braking the rear seat backrest could collapse towards the passengers.

The hazard

If the rear seat backrest collapses towards the passengers unintentionally, it could increase the risk of injury or death to the vehicle occupants.

The remedy

Owners of affected vehicles can contact their most convenient Land Rover authorised dealer to have the third-row seat back latch inspected and where a latch does not operate properly, the seat frame and associated components will be replaced, free of charge.
