The defect

Due to a manufacturing issue, the steering column shaft could separate from the U-joint. This may result in a loss of steering control.

A loss of steering control could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.

The remedy

Owners of affected vehicles can contact their nearest Jeep dealership to schedule an inspection and if necessary, replace the immediate shaft and assembly parts, free of charge.
