The defect

Due to a manufacturing defect, the differential gear splines inside the Power Transfer Unit may wear out. This could result in a loss of motive power while driving and a loss of the “Park” function while stationary.

The hazard

A loss of motive power or “PARK” functionality increases the risk of an accident and serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.

The remedy

Owners of affected vehicles can contact their nearest authorised Jeep Dealer to have the vehicle software updated, free of charge.
