The defect
Due to a manufacturing defect, small cracks may form in the front lower suspension arms when driving on rough (corrugated) roads. As a result, the suspension may collapse or detach from the vehicle. If this occurs, the vehicle may experience a sudden loss of steering control.
The hazard
A loss of steering control could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.
The remedy
Toyota will contact affected owners in writing, requesting to make an appointment at their preferred Toyota dealer to inspect and if necessary replace the front lower suspension arm, free of charge. To find a local dealer, visit https://www.toyota.com.au/find-a-dealerFor further information, consumers should contact the Toyota Recall Assist Helpline on 1800 987 366 (Monday to Friday, 8am - 6pm AEST).
