The defect

Due to a manufacturing issue, the electric parking brake wiring harness may contact and chafe against the rear axle housing. If this occurs, it could lead to an unintentional parking brake application whilst driving resulting in a loss of vehicle control.

A loss of vehicle control could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.

The remedy

Owners of affected vehicles should contact their respective dealers to arrange an appointment to have the vehicle inspected and the work carried out, free of charge.
