The defect

Due to a manufacturing defect, the vibration damper may not have been tightened to the correct torque, causing it to potentially become loose and detach from the vehicle. This could also result in a loss of vehicle power.

The hazard

If a vibration damper detaches from the vehicle or the vehicle experiences a loss of power, it could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.

The remedy

Owners of affected vehicles are to contact their nearest Cummins Inc. Distributor or authorised warranty dealer to schedule an appointment to have the work carried out, free of charge.It is advised that if abnormal engine noise or vibration occurs, the driver must stop the engine when safe to do so and seek immediate repairs.
