The defect

Due to a manufacturing defect, the oil filter housing may not meet specifications and could crack over time. If this occurs, oil could leak into the engine bay and accumulate in the presence of an ignition source resulting in a vehicle fire.

The hazard

A vehicle fire could increase the risk of serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users and bystanders, and/or damage to property.

The remedy

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Jaguar Land Rover by mail, asking them to schedule an appointment with their nearest dealership to replace the oil filter housing, along with filter and associated o-rings, free of charge.
