The defect

Due to a manufacturing defect, the propeller shaft balance plate may not have been welded to the required specifications and could detach from the vehicle whilst driving.

The hazard

If the propeller shaft balancing plate detaches from the vehicle whilst driving it could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to other road users and bystanders.

The remedy

Owners of affected vehicles should contact their nearest authorised Daimler Truck dealership to schedule an appointment to inspect the propeller shaft balancing plate. If the welding defect is identified, the propeller shaft will be re-balanced.This work will be carried out free of charge as part of the recall.
