The defect

The affected vehicles are provided with supercharger upgrade kits that include a Powertrain Control Module (PCM) that may experience a software error and disable functional safety features. This may result in unintended acceleration and/or vehicle movement.

The hazard

An unintended acceleration and/or vehicle movement whilst driving could increase the risk of an accident, causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.

The remedy

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Ford Motor Company Australia asking them to contact their local dealership to have their vehicle rectified when the remedy is ready, free of charge.
