The defect

Due to a manufacturing defect, the left-hand rear drive shaft may have been incorrectly installed. As a result, it could lead to a loss of motive power whilst driving and/or unintended vehicle movement while the vehicle is in park if the parking brake is not applied.

The hazard

A loss of power whilst driving and/or unintended vehicle movement could increase the risk of an accident causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.

The remedy

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Ford Motor Company Australia in writing asking them to contact their local dealership to have their vehicle rectified, free of charge.For further information, contact any authorised Ford Dealer or Ford Customer Relationship Centre on 13 FORD (13 3673).
