The defect

The Occupant Restraint Control (ORC) Module software on certain vehicles may cause a side curtain airbag and seat airbag unwanted deployment. These vehicles can achieve vehicle angles during off road events which may exceed the Occupant Restraint Control (ORC) module rollover calibration thresholds.

The hazard

An unwanted airbag deployment while driving may pose an accident hazard.

The remedy

Chrysler Jeep will notify vehicle owners who can take their vehicle to a Jeep Dealership whereby the ORC module will be reprogrammed with new software. For further information regarding the recall customer can call 1300 133 079.
