The defect

A number of 5.0L Mustang vehicles may have reduced clearance between the battery cable wiring loom and the exhaust manifold.

The hazard

On these vehicles it is possible that the wiring loom could contact the manifold and result in a short circuit, potentially resulting in an engine compartment fire. At the time of publication there had been no reported occurrences in Australia.

The remedy

Ford will write to owners of all affected vehicles. Owners are advised to contact their Ford authorised dealership for inspection and rectification.For further information, contact any authorised Ford Dealer or Ford's Customer Relationship Centre on 1800 503 672.
