The defect

The fault affects the crash protection plate of the high pressure fuel pump in the engine compartment. Due to an error in the releasing process in an engine production plant, a crash protection plate for the high pressure fuel pump was not installed in 3-cylinder petrol engines (B36/B38).

The hazard

In a severe front crash, the fuel pump could become damaged causing a fuel leak and a fire.

The remedy
