The defect

An internal ignition switch spring may have been manufactured with a surface defect.

The hazard

After prolonged normal usage, the engine could unexpectedly turn off while driving. If this coincides with a road traffic accident, the vehicle’s airbag system may not function.

The remedy

Consumers should contact their nearest Nissan dealer to arrange inspection, and if necessary, replacement of the mechanical key ignition switch assembly.
