The defect

The heat shield may not be in the proper position around the front driver airbag's inflator. When the airbag is triggered, hot gas may damage the airbag material or cause the airbag to tear.

The hazard

If the airbag is damaged or torn, there is an increased risk of injury and/or death to vehicle occupants in the event of accident that triggers the airbag.

The remedy

Consumers will be advised to contact their Nissan Dealer to organise for the driver's airbag assembly to be replaced, free of charge.Consumers can find their nearest dealership at https://www.nissan.com.au/find-a-dealerFor further information, consumers can contact the Nissan Customer Service Centre on 1800 035 035 (Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 6:00pm AEST).
