The defect

Lexus NX vehicles are equipped with a brake hold function which keeps the brake applied after the vehicle comes to a complete stop. Under certain conditions, the system is designed to deactivate the brake hold function, warn the driver and automatically set the parking brake.

The hazard

Due to improper programming, there is a possibility that the parking brake may not automatically apply when the system is deactivated by certain conditions. If this occurs, the vehicle could move forward, increasing the risk of an collision.

The remedy

Involved Lexus Owner's will be contacted by mail at their last known address, inviting them to make an appointment with their preferred Lexus Dealer to have the recall carried out free of charge.
