The defect

Affected vehicles have an engine wire harness connected to the hybrid vehicle Power Control Unit located within the engine compartment. A portion of the wire harness could contact the connector cover and wear over time, causing an electrical short circuit.

The hazard

If sufficient heat is generated, there is an increased risk of a vehicle fire.

The remedy

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Toyota Australia, asking them to contact a Toyota Dealership to arrange inspection and rectification of the engine wire harness free of charge.Consumers who require further information can contact their preferred Toyota Dealer or contact the Toyota Recall Assist Helpline on 1800 987 366 (Monday to Friday, 8am-6pm AEST).
