The defect

In the suspension system of the subject vehicles, due to insufficient surface treatment prior to the painting process, the paint on the front coil spring may not have adhered properly, which could cause the coil spring to be susceptible to corrosion in highly corrosive environments such as where road salt is used. If the vehicle is operated in this condition for an extended period, the spring may corrode and, in the worst case, fracture.
