The defect

There is a possibility that a prototype instrument panel reinforcement has been installed on certain RAV4 vehicles.

The hazard

During steering operation, a welded portion of the prototype instrument panel reinforcement (steering column support bracket) may separate, causing noise. In the worst case, steering operation may be affected.

The remedy

Owners of the affected vehicles will be notified by telephone and mail.Any authorised Toyota dealer will replace the Instrument Panel Reinforcement with a new one at NO CHARGE to the vehicle owner.
