The defect

Due to incorrect machining the splined end of the ZF steering shaft could push through the lower yoke. If this were to occur it could lead to a loss of steering control.

Make arrangements with any authorised Freightliner dealership to have a retaining collar fitted free of charge to prevent the shaft from moving in the splines.
