Verify before you act. Recall details and remedies can change. Our database is updated regularly but may not reflect the most recent revisions. Always confirm with vehiclerecalls.gov.au or your vehicle manufacturer before acting on the information below. Read our full disclaimer.

The defect

On certain BT-50 vehicles, the bonnet striker may receive more lateral input than expected when driven in severe conditions like a rough road and/or if the bonnet fitting condition is less that optimal. This may cause fatigue breakage of the bonnet striker in some cases.

The hazard

If the vehicle is continuously driven under severe conditions, the safety hook may no longer be able to retain the bonnet and the bonnet may open while driving, hindering the visibility of the driver.

Consumers may obtain further information by contacting any authorised Mazda Dealer or free-call 1800 034 411 (10:00am to 4:00pm Eastern Standard Time, Mon-Fri) to speak to a Mazda Customer Service Representative.Mazda dealers will replace the bonnet striker with a modified unit, and adjust the alignment of the bonnet.
