Verify before you act. Recall details and remedies can change. Our database is updated regularly but may not reflect the most recent revisions. Always confirm with vehiclerecalls.gov.au or your vehicle manufacturer before acting on the information below. Read our full disclaimer.

The defect

A certain number of Western Star model vehicles have been fitted with a supplementary ABS trailer receptacle which does not have the required circuit current rating as outlined in Australian Design Rule 35 (ADR 35).

The hazard

In the event that an ABS trailer or trailers connected to an affected vehicle draws a high level of current from the electrical system through the affected circuit, the circuit protection device will activate and remove the current supply to the trailer. This may result in reduced braking capacity and handling ability, under heavy braking.

The remedy

Letters will be sent to owners of affected vehicles.
