The defect

Due to a software issue, the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) may not illuminate to alert the driver of a Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) efficiency emission related issue.

The hazard

There is no safety hazard and the defect will not affect the performance of the vehicle.Vehicles may not be compliant with the ADR 80/03 - Emission Control for Heavy Vehicles.

The remedy

Owners of affected vehicles should contact their preferred Western Star dealer to arrange to have the software updated, free of charge.
