The defect

The reverse camera screen in the infotainment unit may freeze when the gear selector is in reverse.

The hazard

If the reversing image freezes it may create an unsafe situation by not representing the true nature of the conditions behind the vehicle, posing a risk to other road users.

The remedy

Known owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by direct mail. Owners should contact their preferred Subaru retailer to arrange an appointment for an updated software program file to be installed in their vehicle.
