The defect
Due to a manufacturing issue, certain plug-in hybrid electric vehicles may not have had the High Voltage battery reinforcing plate or battery cover coated with a protective wax. If water intrudes, there is a risk of perforation or corrosion of the battery reinforcing plate/battery cover over the life of the vehicle.
The hazard
If left unrepaired, there is a risk that the perforation/corrosion could weaken the battery reinforcing plate/battery cover effecting the High Voltage battery security. This may result in the breakdown of the vehicle and/or may result in the potential for a battery or vehicle fire. A vehicle fire could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users or bystanders.
The remedy
Owners of affected vehicles can contact their preferred authorised Peugeot dealer to have the work carried out as soon as possible, free of charge. To find a dealer, visit https://www.peugeot.com.au/dealers/
